Are you a newbie blogger wondering how to create great content that performs well in Google Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs)? If so, Google Webmaster Help have recently uploaded a video which explains clearly how to create great and unique content that performs well in search results.
In a nutshell, “The key to building a quality website that performs well in search is to focus your website and content on users, not search engines.”

“First and foremost, you want to create original content. Think about what your site is really about, and how does it differ from other sites? What can you bring to the table that nobody else can or already has? Spend some time thinking about these thing, and make sure your content reflects it. Also, freshness matters. Many site owners find regularly updating a blog is a great way to keep users constantly engaged. And finally, take some time to periodically evaluate your site and archive any content that is no longer relevant.”

So, if you’re updating your blog daily, especially with a content which can be found elsewhere, then you should really add your own points otherwise it’s better to spread the news as a tweet on Twitter. I don’t update my blog (but used to… several years back) with posts such as “Google Launches Google Drive” or “Microsoft Bids To Buy Yahoo!” unless I have a point which is unique and hence it can act as a link bait that attracts natural backlinks.
