5 Tips To Build Your Blog Audience

It sucks not to have any readers.

It’s not only demoralizing but it just plain sucks!

“Yoo-hoo!”

“Doesn’t any one want to read this fabulous content I have?!” you shout.

But all this shouting falls on deaf ears and you feel like an ant trying to move a giant boulder up a mountain.

If you’re experiencing this with your blog, there is something you can do about it.

No one promised you a slew of readers as soon as you started blogging.

And even if you have killer content it takes time to build your audience.

Here are some tips that may help you build your audience up today.

1.  Stay consistent

I know, I know, you’ve heard it before.  But the reason it’s worth repeating is because staying consistent can be difficult especially when no one is reading.  However, it reminds me of the saying, “How you do small things, is how you do everything.”  Think of your lack of readers as a training ground so you can grow as a writer and as a person.  Stick to your schedule and keep writing and putting out great content, cause if you build it they will eventually come.

2.  Join A Group

Join a group in your niche online.  There are lots of groups on Facebook and this is an underutilized tool.  You not only get to network with people in your niche but often times those people become readers of your blog and help you spread the word.

3.  Give Away Something Substantial For Free

Free stuff is a way to attract new readers every time.  When this site was launched ourFREE Ebook helped us attract lots of readers.  It wasn’t a typical top 10 list, but it was actually strategies that we combed Facebook to find.  A lot of people were complaining on not knowing what to write in their status updates and this ebook helped them come up with new ideas, and realize the possibilities are unlimited.  So think about what you can do that no one else has done in your niche and give it away.

4.  Comment on other Blogs

Make a list of blogs that are within your niche and spend time commenting on them.  Put it in your schedule.  If you have analytics installed you will see if this technique is giving you any traffic.  I’ll be the first one to say to make sure your comments are insightful.  Don’t leave one liners, and also make sure you actually enjoy the blog.

5.  Beef up your SEO

Search engine optimization does help you get traffic.  This site gets a lot of visitors from doing some simple SEO techniques.  I wrote an article about SEO so you might want to review it.  Believe it or not Google ranks as one of our top traffic sources and this is without paid advertising.  This is an way to add a stream of readers to your blog, and you never know some may hang around.

Of course there are many more ideas however these will give you something to chew on right now.
