The key to creating a successful website is to attract as many unique visitors as you can. It all depends on how hard you work and what tactics you use to gain these unique visitors to your website.
I am no search engine optimization Guru, and when I started building websites, I did not even know what WordPress was. I didn’t even know that HTML existed and PHP was not even heard of.
In the beginning I had a dream to share my knowledge with the world, without even knowing where it would take me. The website that I have that has 6000 unique visitors per day began as a simple hobby that I worked on after my real day job, and in any spare time I had.
Today I want to share how I created a website that attracts 6000 unique visitors or more, per day.
Nothing but unique quality content:
When creating my content, I had a love for my subject or niche, and was always inspired by a new idea that I wanted to share. I did not rely on other people to write articles for me, but wrote them from my heart. If I could not provide my website with unique content, I did not worry myself because I knew I was not in a hurry. I would never lower my standards and reproduced other peoples content or publish substandard articles.
Frequency of content:
If I had found the time to publish one unique article every day, I believe that my website have 10,000 unique visitors per day at the moment. However, I did not have that time available to me, therefore when I could not publish an article my website did not grow as fast. I have proved to this over and over during the past four years. It is a fact that if you publish frequently, you gain more organic traffic and interest in your site.
Listening to my website’s unique visitors:
In the beginning I did not have the option for people to comment on my website as I had not woken up to the fact that this was a necessary communication tool. Sometimes I was lucky enough to receive e-mails from my unique visitors that gave me tips on what they wanted to see on my website. The e-mails were not always good, as some people would criticize me for what I had written, and others were just plain rude. I never thought to myself, “What would these people know? They do not have a website.” I took this advice or constructive criticism on board and used it to my advantage.
If one of my visitors had told me that my article was wrong and the instructions did not work, I would take a good look at it and test it again. You can learn something new from anyone every day.
Concentrating on successful topics:
By following my stats for my website, I began to see what articles or subjects were the most popular on my website. Obviously someone is trying to tell me something here. Therefore I listened again and produced more articles that were similar to the popular topics. These statistics also told me what information products my unique visitors may be interested in. This led me to creating simple E books for them to buy.
Comparing search queries to landing pages?
Sometimes for a website I use statcounter.com. This website has a feature where you can see the search term that your visitor used to land on a certain page in your website. Therefore I could see what people were looking for, and then I could compare the landing page with the search term. I would ask myself a simple question, “Would that page have answered their question?” If the answer was yes, then I would leave the page alone. If the answer was no, I would go back to that page and make sure that query was Answered correctly. Basically I was optimizing the page for the keywords that people were using to find it.
Search engine optimization:
To tell you the truth, I did not even know that search engine optimization existed. I did not know about keywords because I was just trying to supply people with content that they wanted. I did not go overboard with link exchanging or article marketing. I really just thought that if I produced content it would all just happen for me. The funny thing is that it did.
I was probably into my second year of website building when I realized that I should be doing something else besides adding content to my website. At this point other Webmasters had reproduced my content and had given me back links by accident. I guess I was lucky I had good content.
Of course over the years I have learnt how to do search engine optimization and have a few tips for you:

Researching my competitor’s websites:
What are they doing that I’m not doing? What have they got that I haven’t? How did they get to that position? How can my website be successful like that? These are just some of the simple questions that I would ask myself when I looked at my competitor’s website. It is not rocket science, however people think it is.
How long does it take to get 6000 unique visitors per day?
Well as you can see from the screen shot below, it has taken me three full years of work as I started my website in late 2007 and it is only early 2010 now. As I stated earlier, if I had published an article a day, I am 100% sure that my unique visitors would be well over 10,000 people per day.

What is the advantage to having 6000 unique visitors per day?
Obviously I have read many articles about people making successful websites. The question I am always left with after reading an exciting article is “How much money do you actually make from your website?” Unfortunately I cannot tell you this, because it depends on what you are selling, what you are advertising, and what your aim is to your website. I personally think that you should make one dollar a month times your daily unique visitors. Therefore if I was getting 6000 unique visitors a day, I would expect to make $6000 a month minimum from this website. It is the same rule that Internet marketing gurus use when they say that a person on your list is worth a dollar a month. Therefore if you have 500 visitors per day you should be making $500 per month minimum.if this is not the case you need to work on optimising your monetization efforts.
Can you make a website that gets 6000 unique visitors per day?
Of course you can! I am one of those people that never says “I can’t!” These words are not in my vocabulary and I would never say them to anyone. I believe, even if you are computer illiterate, you can do this as well. If only I could show you all the mistakes I made, all the hold-ups I created, and all the time I wasted. At one stage I even deleted the entire website, and had to copy and paste every page separately, back to where it was, because I did not know any other way to do it. So this is why I know that you can also make a website that gets 6000 visitors per day!
